The farmer folded his hands together.
“O Wise One, I was here yesterday.”
“Ah yes. Your landlord demanded you pay your mortgage in full or vacate your farm.”
“Bless you, Wise One! You suggested I dig for what was hidden in my fields.”
“Yes?”
“It was the body of the landlord’s missing son-in-law! A few quiet words with the king’s men, and now my farm is mine at last.”
The Wise One blinked.
“I meant for you to turn over the soil so that your crops would benefit from the fertile layers below. But I’m glad your way worked too.”
